Migrate from Sage 50 to Cofactu without losing a single invoice

Sage 50 is an enterprise UX with local installation in many deployments. If you want to move to a 100% cloud SaaS with real VeriFactu and 1-click AEAT filing, export your data to Excel and upload it to Cofactu — the parser detects the Sage format automatically. The VeriFactu hash chain starts clean from your first new invoice.

During the migration

Migrate with peace of mind — nothing gets lost along the way

No history lost

Your Sage invoices keep their original numbering (FAC/2025/0142, etc.) and issue date. Cofactu's VeriFactu hash chain starts clean from your first new invoice, with no collision.

Zero invoicing downtime

Keep invoicing in Sage while Cofactu imports in parallel. When you're ready, cancel your Sage subscription — your data in Cofactu stays there, accessible from any browser.

No lock-in

If you ever want to leave, export ALL your Cofactu data in 1 click (customers, invoices, expenses, PDF + signed XML, VAT ledger). We don't block the exit — transparency goes both ways.

Step by step

Bring your data from Sage

Sage doesn't expose a public API: export your lists as Excel/CSV and our parser, tailored to its exact format, reads them.

Only method

Excel/CSV export from Sage

1

Export from Sage 50

~ 2 min

Sage 50 → Invoicing → Reports → Export to Excel. Repeat for Master Data → Customers → Export.

Sage 50 also lets you export the full VAT ledger (Input/Output VAT report). If you're coming from Sage One or Contaplus the menu is similar — you just need to reach the standard XLSX/CSV export.

2

Upload the files to Cofactu

~ 1 min

Create your free account and go to Invoices → Import → From another program → select Sage.

The parser detects the Sage format automatically (standard Sage 50 headers). If your export has custom columns or you're coming from Sage Despachos, you get an editable preview before committing to map them to Cofactu fields.

3

Confirm and go

~ 2-3 min

Review the preview with N invoices + M customers and hit Import. Done.

Historical invoices keep their Sage numbering (e.g. FAC/2025/0142) and come in as drafts. If they already had an AEAT CSV (filed via Sage), they're imported as accepted and are NOT re-sent.

After migrating

What you get in Cofactu that you didn't have in Sage

Before · Sage
  • Cloud-native, no installation
  • Real VeriFactu from day 1
  • PSD2 bank connection included
  • Transparent pricing, no hidden fees
Now · Cofactu
  • Cloud-native, no installation

Cofactu works in any browser, with no local server or VPN. Installable Sage 50 needs a dedicated machine or RDP — and Sage's cloud version is optional/extra. On Cofactu you're always on the latest version.

  • Real VeriFactu from day 1

Cofactu sends records to AEAT with an official CSV every time you issue an invoice. AEAT error catalog explained in plain terms, automatic detection of a broken hash chain (4171), 1-click repair. Sage has VeriFactu via a separate module and complex setup.

  • PSD2 bank connection included

Over 40 Spanish banks via Enable Banking (EU-regulated AISP). Sync every 6h, auto bank reconciliation with invoices, and T-7/T-3 alerts before the authorization expires. Sage charges this as a separate e-banking module.

  • Transparent pricing, no hidden fees

Free / Self-employed €9 / Small business €19 / Accounting firm €49. Everything included: invoicing, VeriFactu, banking, AEAT tax forms, multi-tenant, OCR. Sage has opaque pricing with à la carte modules and you need to talk to sales for a quote.

Clean chain

Your VeriFactu hash chain starts clean with your first new invoice

Invoices you already sent to the AEAT from Sage keep their CSV — we don't touch them. From your first invoice in Cofactu, the SHA-256 hash chain links up whole, signed, and verifiable, with no baggage from the past.

  • Sage history imported and searchable
  • New chain linked and signed from day 1
  • Automatic repair if an invoice breaks the chain (error 4171)
Once you've migrated

File your AEAT tax forms directly from Cofactu

Where Sage makes you download the file and upload it manually to the AEAT portal, Cofactu files it directly. Covers all 7 forms with the official CSV saved in an immutable audit log.

Will my invoices already filed with AEAT from Sage be re-sent?
No. Cofactu detects the ones that already have an AEAT CSV and marks them as 'accepted (imported)' — they are not re-sent, no duplicates. Cofactu's VeriFactu hash chain starts clean with your first NEW invoice.
Do I lose Sage's change history or audit trail?
Sage's internal logs stay in Sage — our importer doesn't extract them. But from the moment of import, Cofactu keeps its own immutable audit log with a hash chain (creation, editing, AEAT submission, and payment events).
Does it work with any Sage version (50, One, Despachos, Contaplus)?
Yes, as long as you can export to Excel/CSV. The parser automatically detects the standard header; for older versions or custom configs you get an editable preview to map the columns.
How long does migrating 500 invoices take?
About 5 minutes: 2 min to export from Sage, 1 min to upload, 2 min to parse + preview + commit. The preview is shown before committing so you see exactly what will be imported.
What about my accounting entries from Sage?
Cofactu imports the VAT ledger (record of issued and received invoices) directly. Spanish GAAP (PGC) accounting entries are generated automatically in Cofactu from the invoice/expense — you don't need to re-enter them.
Can I also import expenses and received invoices?
Yes. Sage 50 → Purchases → Report → Export to Excel. Cofactu detects the format and imports them into the Expenses module with their PDF (if attached) or just the data if not.
What if I'm an accounting firm with several clients in Sage Despachos?
Cofactu has native multi-tenancy: each client is a separate organization under your accounting firm account. You import each client with their own Sage export. The Accounting Firm plan (€49) covers unlimited clients.
